Plant description:
Yellow snake tree is a deciduous tree grow to 18-30 m in height with a straight trunk and fairly smooth yellowish brown bark. It found throughout India, in deciduous forests up to 1,200 m. altitude; the bark is light brown or dark with corkey lenticels. leaves are bi-pinnately arranged and very large, and about 90-180 cm. The leaflets are 2 to 4 pairs, ovate or elliptic, and glabrous. The flowers are reddish purple outside, pale pinkish yellow inside, fruits are flat capsules, length up to 1, tapered at both ends, woody, seeds very many, flat, white-winged, which is helpful to fly in the wind to get germinate.

Medicinal uses:
To treat Vata, Kapha, cardiac disorders, inflammations, dropsy, hiccough, cough, asthma, bronchitis, anorexia, diarrhea, dysentery, gout, vomiting, sprain, wounds, stomachic, and flatulence.
The roots are useful in dyspepsia, diarrhoea, strangury, renal and vesical calculi, cough, asthma, hiccough, dyspepsia, haemorrhoids, hyper acidity, vomiting, dropsy, fever and general debility. The leaves are useful in otalgia, odontalgia, rheumatalgia, malarial fever and wounds. The flowers are useful in burning sensation, cardiopathy, hiccough and general debility. The fruits are useful in vata and pitta. The seeds are useful for external application in hemicrania
Medicinal Properties:
The roots are bitter, acrid, anti inflammatory, anti-rheumatic, aphrodisiac, cardio-tonic, astringent, anodyne, appetizer, constipating, diuretic, lithontriptic, expectorant, antibacterial, febrifuge and tonic. The fruits and flowers are sweet, cooling and astringent
