Scientific name of Tamarind: Tamarindus indica  

Name of Tamarind in different languages:

 Sanskrit: thinthrinee, amlika, cukrika, amlica, shkcukrika, suktika

 Hindi: Emily इमली

 Malayalam: Pulimaram പുളിമരം

Plant description :-

Tamarind - Tamarindus indica is a tropical tree, reach up to the height of 18 metres, Leaves are evergreen, bright green, elliptical ovulate,  alternately arranged, with pinnate  and up to 5 cm  in length. The flowers are red and yellow and elongated, 2.5 cm wide, five-petalled, occur in small racemes. The fruits are pod, up to 15 cm in length, with a brown shell, fruit has a fleshy pulp which is sweet and sour coloured brown contain glossy brown, hard, flattend seeds inside.
