Scientific name of Sunflower: Helianthus annuus

Name of Sunflower in different languages:-

 Sanskrit: Adityabhakta, Arkakantha

 Hindi: Suryamukhi

 Malayalam: Sooryakanthi സൂര്യകാന്തി

Plant description

It is an erect, perennial plant, rough and hairy stem, reaching the heights of 3 m., leaves are broad, rough and alternate. Flowers are big and yellow in colour and have petals arranged outside of flower and a disk-like part contains  number of seeds arranged spirally
