Shampoo Ginger

Scientific name of Shampoo Ginger: Zingiber zerumbet / Amomum zerumbet

Name of Shampoo Ginger in different languages:-

English: Wild Ginger, Bitter Ginger, Pinecone Ginger.

Sanskrit: Awapuhi

Hindi: Nar-kachur, Banadrak-बनअदरक, Mahabari-bach,

Tamil: Araniyacaranai

Malayalam: Kolinchi-കോലിഞ്ചി, Kattinchi-കാട്ടിഞ്ചി.

Plant description:

It is a perennial herb, growing up to 1.5 meters tall, the leaves are long up to 50cm and 5 cm broad, arranged oppositely, tapered both ends, blade-shaped, margin entire, nerves reticulate, lance-shaped. Flowers are deep red, cone-shaped, born in rhizomes, up to 10 cm. Rhizomes are white, fragrant.
