Gosanese Ipecac

Plant Description of:

Goanese Ipecac or Nilanarakam - Naregamia alata  is a prostrate herb, commonly in roadsides, grasslands, fields etc., leaves are three-foliolate; leaflets 1.5 to 2.5 cm long and 0.6 to 1.2 cm wide, obovate, laterals oblique, apex obtuse, petioles 1.5 to 2.5 cm long and winged. Flowers are borne leaf axils, solitary, lanceolate. Petals are five, white coloured, 1.5 to 1.8 cm long. Capsules are 4 to 5 mm in diameter, ovoid to sub-globose.

Rat poison, Nasyam treatment for snake bite, to prepare hair oils, to treat fever, asthma, cough, dysentery etc.
