Plant description:
It is a large shrub, found throughout in Kerala in the Western Ghats open evergreen forests up to 1800 m. altitude, grow up to 10 m tall. The bark is grayish-brown, cracked and rough. Leaves are simple, arranged opposite, clustered at the end of branchlets, size 12.7 to 25.4 cm and 7.6 to 15.2 cm, obovate, tapering at the base, rounded at apex, glabrous, dark green and shining above, paler beneath. Flowers are yellow or cream outside and white inside, 7.6 to 10.2 cm long, in tri-chotomous cymes. Corolla lobes less than half as long as tube re-curved. The fruit is Berry, ellipsoid 3.8 to 5 cm, ovoid, apiculate, smooth and shining; seeds are many, dark brown and ovoid.
