Scientific name of Eggplant: Solanum melongena

English: Garden egg, Brinjal

Sanskrit: Vrintaki, Bruhati, Vartaka

Plant description of Eggplant:

Eggplant is a perennial plant growing to 1 m tall, the leaves coarsely lobed, 10 to 2 cm long and 5 to 10 cm wide , some varieties of large leaves grew over 30 cm long and 15 cm broad. The stem and bottom of leaves are often spiny. The flowers are commonly purple, with a five-lobed corolla. Fruits are berries have different shapes and color, fleshy soft inside contain many yellow flat seeds, which is used in germination.
